Reflections

Understanding the natural world we live in is difficult. We get involved in so many projects and are easily distracted when the occasion arises for us to relax and refresh. We want to unwind and hit the beach with the same energy we have when we carry on our normal routine. My hope for you is to have the foresight to slow when you hit the beach, look carefully at the abundant life that thrives there and enjoy the marvels at your feet. A beach walk need not be an hour long march, a few well planned steps will do. Life abounds around you and its rewards are plentiful. Enjoy your beach walk and mine.
Beach Walk
birdsofafeather
You come from the city
To walk our beach
But do not know
Of what you seek.

birdsofafeather
You splash on the lotion
Thongs and a hat
Your bodies in motion
You’re off like a bat.

birdsofafeather
You look at the sand
The sea and the surf
And have nay a clue
Of our mother earth.

birdsofafeather
The whispering wind
Is deaf to your ear
And likewise the surf
That prowls without fear.

birdsofafeather
Glistening diamonds
Gifts from the Son
Dancing on wave tops
A million if one.

Why can’t you stop?
Just stand and stare
At life as it is
All around you there.

Our beach is alive
It bustles with life.
Each grain of sand
Has overcome strife.

So why not slow
To a moderate pace
And listen a while
In this sacred place?

We creatures here
Both big and small
Have found the meaning
Of it all.

This gift of space
We’ll gladly share
Our peaceful place
With love to spare.

So walk our beach
For now you know
The gift of life
We cherish so.

Hi,Bob! Just received this website from Bernard, and was thrilled with your photos, poetry, article on Marcel, etc. You've come a long way from your hockey days & summer visits to Dorchester! I'm not sure if you would remember me - Gene Hunter's eldest, friend of Molly's. I was more than a bit crazy over Bernard in those days!! We have lived in Edmonton,AB,for almost 25 years now, but out of those 25 years there have only been 2 summers that I did not go home!Bern mentioned that you have a cottage at Cape Pele. We have a cottage at Johnston Point, which is 15 minutes from there - off the shore road to Murray Corner. It's just a "cottage" - not a home at the shore, but we do love it there. Dad bought it years ago - an acre with a small cabin. Every summer we try to improve it a bit. I also enjoy nature photography, but just for fun - no fancy equipment. would love to see more of your work.do you plan to come to the reunion? They have an amateur photography contest as part of the sandpiper Festival every year. Bern was asking me for old photos for the reunion. I have a newspaper clipping of you showing off your size 14 skates to Yvan Cournoyer! that was back in the day!! Good to hear you are still enjoying your Maritime roots.Maybe we'll see you this summer. Janis

Bob's travels take him across North America and into the most remote and beautiful areas where few people have had the opportunity to go. Every so often his is inspired by what he sees and feels and puts those feelings into words: Reflections. He hopes you will enjoy his thoughts and feelings as much as he did when he wrote the poems you will find on this page.
